Climate Change
Average temperature on our planet has risen by
c. 1 degree Celsius since the beginning of industrialization. Mankind has never experienced
such high levels of carbon dioxide concentrations and temperature before.
Temperatures have increased by 4 - 5°C since the last Ice Age 18,000 years ago. IPCC projections
predict another increase of 1.4 to 5.8°C by the year 2100 (see graph, IPCC, 2001). Climate
Change will have enormous impacts on mankind and on eco-systems.
