Population Growth

The world's population still grows by c. 80 million people every year. "Developing Countries" account for 99% of this growth.

Until 2050, the world's population is likely to increase by another 50% to almost 9 billion people. Afterwards stabilization seems possible (2075: 9,2 billion; 2175: 8,3 billion; 2300: 9 billion; see graph, DSW 2003/UN 2004, "Mrd." = billions).

This process, in turn, will increase the pressure on the other five areas of the "Big Six" of the "One World".
